๐ Term 2: Sep 1 โ Dec 19, 2025
Today is my last day. Eight months went by way faster than I expected.
Yesterday we had a team holiday event, and honestly it was a lot of fun: good food, some laughs, the usual. I'm not exactly the most outgoing person, but somehow this team made it easy to just hang out and enjoy it. They are genuinely nice people, and funny too. I'll miss the weekly lunches and random chat.
On the technical side, this term I worked on two projects.
The first was a backup system for SAP Enable Now. Kubernetes CronJob, custom Python container, PVCs, retention policies โ the whole thing. Spent a lot of time on the design doc and aligning with the team on scope. It's the most "production-ready" thing I've built here, something that can actually be handed off and maintained long-term.
The second was a Cordova plugin for iOS text scanning โ a proof of concept using Apple's DataScannerViewController to scan serial numbers. Learned that our app is hybrid, not native, so I had to figure out the plugin architecture and JS โ Swift bridge from scratch. Got it working in a test app. More exploratory than the backup project, but good practice for going wide on unfamiliar platforms.
Beyond the technical stuff, I learned a lot about just... working on a team. How to ask ask dumb questions. How to give demos without completely fumbling (still working on that). How to scope things with others instead of just diving in solo.
Got my final evaluation from my supervisor this week. The feedback was encouraging. He mentioned things like solid research and documentation habits, and being able to work independently. But he also pointed out areas I need to work on: speaking up more in group settings, taking more initiative on defining next steps instead of waiting to be told, and understanding the bigger picture of how my work fits into the business. Also a good reminder about being careful with AI-generated code โ always validate before shipping. Fair points, all of them. Stuff to keep in mind for the next term.
And somehow, I got lucky enough to continue with the team starting next February โ part-time work while I finish my last courses. Really didn't expect this co-op to turn into something longer-term, but here we are.
To my manager, team member and myself:
Thank you for a great eight months!
